
Sun and Beach
Muro beach in catalan language, Platja de Muro is situated at three kilometres from the centre of Port d'Alcúdia, and at 15 kilometres from the centre of Muro, between the breakwater of s'Oberta del Parc ("reserve") Natural de s'Albufera, (which can be visited for free) and the natural border toward Alcudia beach, which is the prolongation of it.
We have to say that the general name Platja de Muro is used for the 5,2 kilometres of coastline which belong to the municipality with the same name. This quiet beach with fine-grained sand and which is not very deep for the relief of the parents and the tourist who crowd this place. You have to walk quite a lot before the water gets deeper. At the rear you will find the system of dunes and the different trails, with some pine trees and juniper woods, as well as the development of villages and hotels, a quality tourism with good hotels, most of the visitors are families.
The extensive sandy grounds, the very gentle slope the presence of sandbanks and the fact that it is open to the winds of the first quadrant explain that running aground is possible. This is why the navigator should stay away from the coast.
The water is transparent, the swell is moderate or quiet, the sand is fine-grained and golden, ideal for all types of visitors. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs.
The private car can be left for free in the streets that take to this beach. The nearest bus stop is located at about a hundred metres from this beach if you chose the public transport.
